In Lap-Band® surgery, band is used for controlling the size of the stoma through which food passes from upper pouch to the stomach. Thus bands in a way regulate the flow of food into the stomach. Patients on the day of fill are asked not to take solid food so that the pouch remains empty while filling and saline filling can be done in a proper way. Drinking lots of water on the day of fill as well as few days before fill is recommended by the doctors. However intake of solid food in larger quantity on that day after Lap-Band® fill is restricted as the body takes time to adjust with the changes.




It is good if you can get a well known Lap-Band® doctor in your locality, as it eases the post and pre operative tasks. The patients need to consult the doctor several times before as well as after the operation as several tests and evaluation are done before operating. Further, time and again you need to visit the Lap-Band® doctor in case of any difficulty or for alteration in band like inflation or deflation.
