Sports after Lap-Band® surgery: Practice only easy sports and exercises

Now, it becomes important to know about the facts of sports after Lap-Band® surgery. It is suggested to perform easy exercises just after lap band surgery (after 1-2 weeks). You may go for 15-20 minutes slow walk every day. However, you can increase walking time up to 45 minutes (10 minutes every week) as per your ease. After that you may go for brisk walk. Brisk walk means walking with increasing speed or fast walk. You may also include shot time jogging up to 2 minutes. You can follow these exercise steps as walk for 10 steps and then jog for 2 minutes. Repeat this action up to 20 minutes. You will surely notice great difference in your weight and physical appearance.



You should not go for sports that include excess physical strength like volleyball, football, cricket or basketball. These sports are not safe for lap band surgery patients. You may experience the problem of lap band slippage or other unhealthy situations. These types of sports after lap band surgery are never considered as safe.

You should take advice from your surgeon on this problem. Exercises and sports practices may differ from one lap band patient to other. As all these things depends upon the internal body complication of person. You should not practice the exercises that are not easy to perform. Walking and slow jogging are best exercises that can be practiced after lap band surgery. Sports after Lap-Band® surgery can be performed but only that which includes low physical strengths. Again, it is important to consult with your physician before practicing any exercise or sports after lap band surgery.
